Gregory Lamar Harris, 46, was sentenced last week by Circuit Court Judge Jonathan Sjostrom to 20 years in prison.
Harris pled guilty earlier this year to second degree murder in the death of Glenn Allen Holley of Quincy.
According to a police report released by the Quincy Police Department on May 30, 2013, officers responded to an outdoor roadway area of 326 Valley Drive in reference to an injured man bleeding from the head.
Upon arrival police found Holley, who was sitting in a chair bleeding profusely and unresponsive.
The initial investigation revealed that the victim and suspect had been involved in an altercation which involved some shoving. After the altercation ended the victim sat down in a chair.
At this point, Harris allegedly picked up a nearby stick from the ground and struck the victim several times in the head. The victim was taken to TMH.
The suspect, Gregory Lamar Harris, 45, was located nearby and arrested, and was charged with aggravated battery at that time.
On Monday, June 10, 2013, Holley died from these injuries and Harris was charged with second degree murder.
