There was no joy in Gainesville or Tallahassee for the home teams this past weekend as Florida and Florida State went out in just two games.
The host teams were the first teams eliminated in their regions.
Florida lost 3-2 to College of Charleston and 5-2 to North Carolina to end their season at 40-23.
The Gators had runs scored on them in only two innings during the region play with Charleston scoring their three runs in the first inning of their game and North Carolina getting their five runs in the third inning.
Florida State ran into a pair of crafty left-handers in their elimination march.
Georgia Southern’s Sam Howard pitched a two-hitter and fanned ten in a 7-0 win over the Seminoles on Friday.
Alabama’s Justin Kamplain then shut out FSU through eight innings Saturday in a 6-5 Crimson Tide win giving the Seminoles a 17 inning scoreless run. A ninth inning rally came up short for FSU who ended the season with a 43-17 mark.
Charleston won the Gainesville region and Kennesaw State won the Tallahassee Region.
