California Chrome won the second leg of the Triple Crown Saturday when he picked up the black-eyed-susans and the Preakness championship, putting him one win from lasting fame if he can take the Belmont in just over two weeks.
California Chrome and his owners, Steve Coburn and Perry Martin, a pair of good ole boys, continue to capture the attention of not only this country but globally.

Blountstown’s Hunter Jordan hit a home run and Liberty County’s Hunter Jacobs struck out the side to pick up a save as the Rural All-Stars defeated the Leon County All-Stars 10-7 Saturday in the annual Joe Ferolito Next Level Baseball All-Star Game.
On Monday night, in a game featuring the girls, the Rural All-Stars defeated the Leon County All-Stars 12-2 in the annual game behind the pitching of Vernon’s Hannah Brock who struck out 12 hitters.
Chattahoochee hosted the boys’ baseball event and Chiles hosted the girls’ softball game.
Harold Bailey and the Chattahoochee Red Bird team did an outstanding job for the baseball game as did Aaron Clark and his staff for the softball game.

West Gadsden will play in a spring jamboree football event at Tallahassee Maclay tonight (Thursday). Maclay and FAMU will provide the opposition.
East Gadsden will play at Capital tomorrow night facing Godby in a half of play.
BIG BEND BEARS
The Big Bend Bears summer baseball team will start play the weekend of June 6 in a tournament at Chipola.
The Bears season will run until the middle of July. Munroe players Myles Edwards, Stephen Miller, Nolan Haire and Will Harris are county players listed on the roster.
Both the Florida State and Florida softball teams won their respective regional tournaments last week and both will host Super-Regionals this week.
Michigan will come to Tallahassee for a match-up with the Lady Seminoles for Thursday and Friday games and a Saturday game if needed.
Washington will journey to Gainesville for Saturday, Sunday and if needed, Monday game.
Both FSU and the Lady Gators will face opponents that could be a handful in the two-of-three regional format.
Winners of the Super Regionals will advance to the College Softball World Series in Oklahoma City next week.
