Rev. William R. Stephens, Jr., 80, passed May 19, 2014 at his home in Greensboro.
He was born in Grand Ridge, Florida, August 2, 1933. He was a graduate of Grand Ridge High School and served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He was later ordained as a pastor in the Assembly of God faith and served as pastor at Mayo First Assembly of God Church, Jasper Assembly, Sneads Assembly Missions and retired after many years at Bethel Assembly of God Church in Greensboro. He also worked as an Evangelist.
Visitation was Wednesday, May 21, 6:00 - 8:00 at the Bethel Assembly of God Church. Service is Thursday, May 22, at 11:00 A.M. with interment at the Bethel Cemetery.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Renay Stephens Todd; parents, William Riley, Sr. and Ella Hamilton Stephens; brother, Miller Stephens; and sisters, Myrtle Gibson, Myrtice Howell and Lola Drake.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Minnie Merle Neel Stephens; grandsons, Warren Keith (Martha) Todd and Kevin Dean (Cynthia) Todd; one great-grandson, Cason Lane Todd; brothers, Joseph, Ervin and Doyle (Edna) Stephens; and sister, Mattie Lee Howell.
