Seniors Derrick Kelly from East Gadsden and Myles Edwards from Munroe head The Herald’s list of the 2013 All-County Football Team that was introduced in a ceremony at West End Grille last Thursday.
The two Jackson Award winners top a talented 22-man team that includes eight players each from East and West Gadsden and six from Munroe.
Kelly, a 6’5”, 280 pound offensive and defensive lineman is one of the area’s highest recruited players with Florida, Florida State, Alabama, LSU and Tennessee among the interested teams.
Edwards was an all-purpose player at Munroe helping the Bobcats to a 7-3 record with his total of over 1,000 yards rushing and receiving and 17 touchdowns along with 87 tackles on defense.
Joining Kelly and Edwards as senior members are Geomarey Smith, JaJuan Perkins, Javoris Johnson, Al Peterson, Kendre James and Jaleell Reynolds from East Gadsden, Walt Kelleher from Munroe and Miguel Davis, Marquis Brown and Cory Dixon from West Gadsden.
Juniors on the squad include La’Javier Turner from East Gadsden, Bo Bailey, Will Harris and Sean Newton from Munroe, and Israel Grande, Octavious Evans, Robert Gordon and Antonio Murphy from West Gadsden.
Sophomores Cole Skipper from Munroe and Qwuantrezz Knight from West Gadsden round out the team.
