This was not how it was supposed to end. In traditional fashion, based on results for several years, the Munroe volleyball team would travel to Jacksonville, face an undermanned 2A volleyball team, and then the Lady Cats would prepare for a rematch with an opponent within their own District 1-2A.
Instead, the team faced a scrappy, attacking Christy’s Church Academy squad that was formerly a 3A classification competitor. Before a crowded, mostly CCA gym, Christ’s Church defeated the Bobcat team in three straight games with scores of 25-18, 25-20, 20-14.
Munroe’s offense was led by Karleebeth Perkins with seven kills and Maddey Pappadakis with six kills. Defensively, senior Olivia Fletcher tallied two blocks and four digs in her last game for the Lady Cats. Perkins and Pappadakis each finished with five digs and Kadejah Glynn added four digs.
Christ’s Church (17-5) moves forward in the playoffs to face their own district opponent, Peniel Baptist of Palatka, which defeated FAMU in five games.
Munroe’s season concludes with an 8-17 record.
