Mrs. Carolyn Sue Rowan Nichols, 73, of Dixie, Georgia passed away September 25, 2013 at The Retreat in Nashville, Georgia. She was born April 11, 1940 in Cook County to the late Buie Johnson Rowan and Eula Beatrice Sapp Rowan. Mrs. Nichols lived most of her life in Dixie and was a homemaker and a member of the Okapilko Baptist Church. She was known by many as "Granny" and those who knew her will probably remember her quote, "If you haven't seen her lately, you won't."
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Eric and Kathy Nichols of Folkston, Georgia, and Mark C. and Tamara Nichols of Dixie, Georgia; her daughter, Shann Vivian Nichols of Havana, Florida; her brother, Buie Rowan of Doerun, Georgia; three sisters: Betty Joyce Gay of Albany, Georgia; Shirley Ann Drew of Valdosta, Georgia, and Peggy Taylor of Thomasville, Georgia; 13 Grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Mrs. Nichols was preceded in death by her former husband, Donald V. Nichols; her son, Keith Vivian Nichols; and her brother, Elder J. L. Rowan.
A graveside service was held at 4:00 PM Thursday, September 26, 2013 at the Longbridge Cemetery in Berrien County with Pastor Willie Heath officiating.
