Havana Police Officer Killian Flint, Sergeant Donteris Andrews and Officer Jon Carder spent a recent morning visiting with children and staff at the Bridge Academy Daycare Center in Havana.
They talked to the kids about many subjects on how to stay safe. Amongst the subjects were not talking to strangers (stranger-danger), bullying, remembering police are their friends, being courteous and respectful to others, and identifying safe houses that would be good places to go if they are in danger, like the police and fire departments.
While with the children the officers distributed pencils, rulers and penlights. Shelanda Stark, director of the Academy, is at right. The center takes care of 47 children from ages of six weeks old to school age. The facility on 1st Street SE has six staff members.
