James Alexander Maxwell, 65, of Tallahassee passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Big Bend Hospice House.
The funeral service was held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 7, 2013 at Faith Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dennis Young and Pastor Greg Doss officiating.
Interment was at Woodland Cemetery. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Jimmy was born October 15, 1947 in Quincy, FL, the son of James Ladd Maxwell and Lucile Poppell Maxwell. Jimmy was a member of Bible Believers Fellowship in Tallahassee. He served in the Florida National Guard. He retired in early 2013 from City of Tallahassee as a heavy equipment operator with the Streets and Drainage Dept. Jimmy was an avid FSU football fan. He also loved NASCAR and fishing.
Survivors include his mother, Lucile Poppell Maxwell of Havana; his companion, Margie Smith of Tallahassee; a daughter, Pheobe Singletary of Tallahassee; two "self adopted sons,” Joey and Jamie Vickers both of Tallahassee; three grandchildren, Ashley Singletary, Brandi Singletary and Hunter Bell; many cousins and close friends.
