The Dixie Youth District V AAA All Star Tournament will get underway this Saturday, June 8th and will be held in Blountstown. The winner of this tournament will represent District V in the State of Florida Dixie Youth AAA Tournament July 12 thru July 19 in Freeport.
The winner of the State Tournament will represent the State of Florida starting August 3rd in the Dixie Youth AAA World Series in Laurel, Mississippi.
Triple A teams from Havana, Quincy and Chattahoochee will be participating in the District V Tournament. As you can see, Gadsden County will be well represented in the District V Tournament.
This will be a double elimination tournament. This means that a team must lose twice before being eliminated from tournament play. Each team playing in the tournament will have a roster of twelve players and three coaches. As is the case in all Dixie Youth tournaments, each player must bat at least
one time and play three consecutive outs in the field.
This format is also followed during regular season play thus allowing for all players to participate in each and every game.
Youngsters ages 9 & 10 make up the AAA program. Other towns in District V are Blountstown, Bristol, Altha, Sneads, Grand Ridge and Malone.
So, if you are looking for something to do Saturday and would like to see some youngsters play and enjoy the game of baseball, then you need to travel to Blountstown and take in a few of the games.
Good luck, safe travel and safe play to all those involved this weekend and remember to show good sportsmanship whether you win or lose. Above all, have fun, enjoy the moment and cherish the memories.
As always, cheer loud for your team and not against your team’s opponent. And above all, keep in mind that these are 9-&-10-year-old youngsters, not professional ball players.
