On May 8 the Munroe student body witnessed senior four-sport athlete Kaitlyn Sirmons signing a commitment form to play softball at Covenant College in the Fall of 2013. Covenant College was founded in 1955 in Lookout Mountain, Georgia near Chattanooga, Tennessee. It is an academically rigorous liberal arts institution affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).
Sirmons excelled in the classroom and on the athletic field, finishing fourth in her class and lettering in four sports:volleyball, basketball, softball and cheer. She earned 14 letters during her high school career. Kaitlyn was recently named by the FHSAA as one of 12 female athletes from a field of 129 applicants chosen in the state of Florida as an Academic All-State Athlete. Kaitlyn, her parents and athletic director, Susie Morris, will attend the June 10 banquet in Gainesville honoring the 12 female and 12 male athletes selected. From those 24 athletes, one female and one male will be given the FHSAA’s highest honor as The Academic All-State Athlete of the Year for the state of Florida.
