On the second Saturday in May each year the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) holds their annual food drive for Feeding America and their partner agencies. According to the 2013 news release for NALC, last year the carriers collected 70 million pounds of donated, non-perishable food items nationwide. This brings the total of food donated since the start to 1.2 billion pounds of food for the nation’s poor and needy.
