Clarence Herman Rowan of Greensboro, FL passed away at home on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 following a lengthy battle with lung cancer.
Visitation was Friday, March 29 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Charles McClellan Funeral Home in Quincy. Services were held Saturday, March 30, 11:00 a.m. at Greensboro United Methodist Church, followed by a graveside service at Sycamore Cemetery.
Herman was born in Sycamore and raised in Greensboro. He worked 18 years as foreman for Higdon Furniture Co. and retired after 27 years with National Standard Life Insurance Co. He was a dedicated member of Greensboro United Methodist Church where he served as lay leader for many years after holding many other positions in the church, Herman served as a councilman for the town of Greensboro. He enjoyed hunting and was a member of the River Junction Hunting Club.
Herman was the only son of the late Mayhew and Lottie Barr Rowan. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eudene Crosby Rowan; one daughter, Dot Brewer (Toby) of Weeki Wachee; four sons, Phillip (Alise) of Greenville, NC, Joe (Connie), Tim (Karen), Matt (Kim) all of Quincy; 10 grandchildren; and four (4) great grandchildren.
