County commissioners hired Tallahassee attorney Thornton Williams to be the interim county attorney, replacing Hal Richmond, who resigned after a meeting where county manager Howard McKinnon was fired. Richmond had been county attorney for 13 years. Commissioners already knew Williams because he led a successful lawsuit against the county brought by Metropolitan Church. Williams said he would work equally as hard for the county as he had against the county during that suit.
