Popular Gadsden County physician Dr. Jessie Furlow died after a lengthy illness. She was 57. Dr. Furlow was very involved with her community. She served as an FSU Trustee and spent many years involved with Gadsden County’s educational system and community hospital. “She was an outstanding doctor and community volunteer,” said Sherry VanLandingham. “I’ve never worked with anyone so passionate about what they did as she was. The Supervisor’s of Elections Office issued its most current candidates’ list and six residents were listed as District 2 county commission candidates. They included Shelanda Shaw, Douglas Croley, James F. Kellum, Don H. White, Tony Edgar Colvin and Reginald A. Cunningham. In the District 4 race, incumbent Brenda A. Holt was challenged by Jeanne Dora Gunn.
County commission chairman Ed Dixon read the board’s resolution honoring Dr. Jessie Furlow for her decades of dedicated, loyal and outstanding medical service to Gadsden County. Furlow was honored with June 20th being proclaimed Dr. Jessie Furlow Day. Furlow had practiced medicine in the county for 30 years and treated thousands of patients. [Full Story »]
