KAITLYN SIRMONS SELECTED TO ALL BIG BEND TEAM

SIRMONS TOP SOFTBALL SELECTION:
Chiles, Madison County and Liberty County all played in the softball state tournament in May, so being named first team softball carries with it quite a compliment. Munroe was one game from the tournament and senior shortstop Kaitlyn Sirmons was one big reason why. For that, Sirmons was chosen to her third All Big Bend team. Sirmons batted .472 with 15 stolen bases and a healthy .698 on base percentage. Sirmons will be playing softball at Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia in the fall. [Full Story »]

48 GOLFERS PARTICIPATE IN NET SHELFER INVITATIONAL

The 31st Annual Net Shelfer Invitational Golf Tournament was held Tuesday, May 21, at the Havana Golf and Country Club. Forty-Eight lady golfers from the surrounding area participated in the tournament. Members of the Havana Golf Association prepared breakfast food and coffee before golf. JAGUARS HOLD OWN IN DEFENSIVE STANDOUT:
The transition from a top-notch quarterback and a newcomer is tough. The transition from a top-notch coach to a newcomer is tough. Doing both in three weeks’ time is toughest of all. The East Gadsden Jaguars and new coach Trace Laing battled heavy hitters Madison County and Godby High on Friday night in a three-team jamboree. In their first half against the Cowboys, the two teams staged a stellar defensive battle that ended in a 0-0 tie. The Jags second half was more exciting.
