In a changing testing environment with standards being raised and test scores tumbling statewide, Gadsden County elementary schools continue to perform well in math. With the release of all FCAT scores for grades 4-8 for Math, Reading and Science, fourth-graders have continued the trend of performing with the best in the state.

The Gadsden County commission is considering possible changes in the county’s Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Code to increase density in agricultural land use districts as part of a long-term county-wide economic development strategy.

Teriel Young, 32, of Quincy, was sentenced to serve 188 months in federal prison last Tuesday, May 28 on multiple charges of distributing cocaine and crack cocaine, according to a press release issued by the U.S. Department of Justice. Young was also sentenced to six years of supervised release and $400 of special monetary assessments. [Full Story »]
