Meeting with the Havana town Council, members of the Veterans Memorial Committee learned that the proposed location of the Veterans Memorial at the town’s Community Park would have to be moved. Town Manager Susan Freiden informed the committee that the chosen location would not be suitable because the memorial would sit atop buried debris from the old Havana Middle School building, which once occupied part of the site. The committee quickly agreed to move the memorial 50 feet away, in front of the library. [Full Story »]
Quincy commissioners convened last Tuesday, January 27th to discuss the city’s contract with the Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA). Quincy Finance Director Ted Beason told the board that the city is in the fourth year of a five-year contract.
