Resurfacing work on U.S. 27 from the south end of Havana to the Georgia line was scheduled to begin December 5, project officials said during an open house at the Havana Municipal Building. The $4,058,723.91 project was beginning roughly in front of the Dollar General store and extending 6.22 miles to the state line. Peavy & Son Construction was the prime contractor. [Full Story »]

Midway Mayor Delores Madison was chosen as Mayor of the Year, the Florida League of Cities announced. The Gadsden School District suffered a major blow with the loss of skilled leadership and deep knowledge held by the late Deputy Superintendent Rosalyn Smith. Rosalyn understood what it takes to move our district forward at a vastly-accelerated pace that will allow us to catch up with the rest of the academic world, and was continuously supportive of a small cadre of citizens’ efforts to do just that.
