BABY STEPS TO FIRST BASE:
Tallavana Christian is taking the baby steps necessary to resurrect baseball at the school and hopefully return to their glory days of the early 2000s. The team will soon play home games at the school; planning to play their first “home” game on March 22 against Baker High School. The team, coached by Gregory Turnquest, has played five games, and although they haven’t picked up a win, they know they are building for the future. Of the 13 team members, five are in middle school and three start as eighth graders. This year the Lion baseball team is participating as full members of the FHSAA and next year the team will be eligible to participate in district competition culminating with the district tournament. By now, anyone who has been on the Internet this past week has seen the magazine headline that was supposed to say ‘Grapefruit, good for every meal,’ in which the editor put a half slice of the succulent citrus at the head of the word in place of the ‘G,’ and knows that what readers saw was ‘rapefruit.’ Many claimed that this was the “most unfortunate article headline in print journalism history.” Is it?
