FOOTBALL FINISHED FOR COUNTY PIGSKIN: The West Gadsden Panthers lost their last game of the season to Sneads this past Friday night. The Panthers scored twice in the 2nd quarter to lead 14-13 at the half but a huge 22-point third quarter buried the team. Sneads senior running back Antwan Dern ran for over 200 yards, and his team put up over 300 yards on the ground to finish 5-5. West Gadsden finished 3-7.

Midway District 2 Councilwoman Eria Caesar resigned her post in October to help with the care of her ailing mother. In her resignation letter, Ms. Caesar said she enjoyed working with the council and staff to improve the lives of Midway citizens.

The situation at the county’s hospital went from bad to worse when the state shut down the facility after considering it a “threat to public health.” Reasons given were garbage in the building, patient cultures awaiting lab analysis and no qualtiy management. “Suspending the clinical operation of the hospital is a serious action the agency only takes in circumstances where the safety of patients is immediately at risk,” stated Secretary Alan Levine of the Agency for Health Care Administration. Jimmy Gibbs 81, of Lake Tallavana, FL passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at his daughters home in Tallahassee.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Faith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gordon Greene officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Havana, with military honors.

Mr. Gibbs was born October 24, 1934 in Madison County, FL the son of the late Buck C. Gibbs and the late Ruth Sparks Gibbs. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon for many years. He was a strong faithful servant of his Lord. He would witness to anyone, at any opportunity he was given. He was retired from the railroad after more than 42 years. He was a real family man, who loved his wife and family.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years Margaret Gibbs of Havana; his son Randy Gibbs (Cindi) of Tallahassee; three daughters Rhonda Maxwell (Roger) of Tallahassee; Sherree Blount (Jim) of Tallahassee; and Sheila Pittard (Craig) of Pensacola. Brothers and sisters Milburn "Bud" Gibbs; Margaret Deloach; Ander Gibbs (Sandy); Wayne Gibbs (Linda) and Brenda Cory. Seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
