Santa was at Havana Elementary School visiting with kids and having a jolly ole time. Each year Santa appeared at the school during the Havana Kiwanis Club’s Pre-K Christmas party. Santa arrived in Havana’s new police SUV with sirens blaring. Kids got to sit on Santa’s lap and talk about their Christmas lists and then received gift bags prepared by the Kiwanis members. Eleanor Mae Strickland, 84, of Havana, FL, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at her residence in Havana.
The funeral service was held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2013 at Faith Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jim Sanders officiating the service. Mrs. Strickland was born on August 29, 1929, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Newt Dieterle and Meda Browe Dieterle. She was a homemaker and also worked with her husband for many years at Strick’s Auto Service in Tallahassee.
Survivors include her son Richard J. Strickland of Havana, three sisters Doris Hammond of Harrison, MI, Nancy Henry of Perry, FL and Sandy Hathcock of Perry, FL and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Merlin Ralph Strickland in October of 2011.
