Jimmy was very proud of his heritage. He loved his family, his school, and his hometown. Although he was born in Havana, he spent most of his childhood with his cousins and friends in Coonbottom, a name that would became a household word among his many friends in St. Louis, Missouri. He truly loved being one of the “Havana Bears.” He excelled in baseball and basketball at Havana School, having played both from 8th through 12th grade. His children benefited greatly from his experiences as he was their coach and mentor as they became involved in sports. They have wonderful stories to tell.
Jimmy had much love and respect for his high school friends, and he always looked forward to attending the high school reunions.
A “Memorial” followed by a “Celebration of Jim's Life” was held at his home on April 28, 2016.
Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to many. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
