The guy whom everyone believes killed his girlfriend in South Africa was released from prison a couple of weeks ago on special circumstances and placed under house arrest, and I don’t understand why. Oscar Pistorius, a former Olympian, was released from prison a day early in South Africa after serving less than a year behind bars for killing girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. The Gadsden County School board denied applications for two charter schools in Midway. The board accepted the superintendent’s recommendation for denial based on findings from the district’s Charter School Committee which included insufficient details in the applications, plus not showing how plans would be used to ‘significantly impact’ curricula and other areas of operations. Phillips, Richard W.
Born in El Paso, TX on Dec. 30, 1957, Rick passed away at home on Oct. 17, 2015. As the son of an Army dad, Rick moved multiple times during his younger years. After many years in St. Petersburg, FL, he settled in the Tallahassee/Havana area. Even as a child he had the most amazing gift with animals, was extremely mechanically minded, and could fix most anything. Rick owned Liberty Small Engine Repairs in Havana, and was known for his abilities, fairness, and good heart. An avid sportsman, Rick loved hunting and fishing. He is survived by daughters, Ashley Phillips and Kimberly Mizereck; adored granddaughter, Kiley; sisters, Debby and Jan and their families, as well as many friends. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Nancy. Rick will be missed very much.
