For a number of years events at the old Northside High School have been a nuisance to our community.
The music & noise can be heard from the high school throughout Havana making it impossible for me to entertain in my own yard, have my windows open or just enjoy a quiet day at home; as a resident, and one that supports our community this should not be tolerated. The music plays from 9 AM to 9 or 10 PM and the lyrics are sexually offensive and filled with violence, not something I think the whole neighborhood should be exposed to or the children playing outside.
I have called the Sheriff’s Department on several occasions to be told that if they try to enforce the noise ordinance most likely it will just get louder (as if that’s possible). I have been told to leave my home for the day until it is over; I live here. Now on March 26 there has been a shooting and attack with a bottle; this is considered a deadly weapon as it can render someone blind, deaf, brain-damaged or dead.
Events at the old Northside High School have gotten out of control and have become a problem, not an asset to our community, and should not be permitted as it is too close to residents. I am sure if I were to go house to house you would find this is not just an individual concern or complaint, nor is the Sheriff’s Department able to control these events.
Northside High School property should not be an event location as it disrupts the lives of those that live in our community.
