Including the inside of my nasal passages. That funny yellowish-green flaky stuff that's all over our cars has appeared waaaay too early this year and it isn't relenting a bit. I'm talking about the annual spring pollen outbreak from trees, plants, flowers, who knows? maybe even frogs' skin ... everything living, it seems.
I do all right inside the air conditioning (or heat, depending on the quirky weather we're having) but just let me step outside and it's instantaneous headache and runny nose. Yuck. I've invested in more boxes of Puffs than normal and when they ran out had to fall back on Kleenex, which I've avoided for years because Puffs are so much softer for my nose ... only to find out that Kleenex has upgraded their tissues to just about the same softness as Puffs ... and are much cheaper! I'm truly considering investing in stock in the tissue companies and whatever drug manufacturer produces Benadryl. As much as I use, they must be making millions off of me!
Is this just a weird springtime? Or is it global warming gone nuts? And where and when will it all end? Will we have the summer from hell? Or will fall be our winter now? We are in unknown and uncharted weather territory here. This isn't going to be pretty, I can tell. I just want my nose back to its normal operations, not as a running waterfall.
For those not afflicted with allergies, I can only say I envy you. It's been a lifelong pursuit to find relief ... perfume, smoke (whether from 'controlled fires' -- can you control your breathing long enough to pass through 50 acres at a time being burned? Nope, nope, nope!), or cigarette smoke from some unkind person blowing smoke in your face unexpectedly, and many, many other things that the nose takes offense at. Hey, I'm not taking a dig at smokers ... I was one for a while. My dad smoked, my grandmother smoked ... no matter where I sat at the table with her, her smoke drifted my way. It has been a lifelong battle when people unthinkingly smoke around me. But -- and this is the only commercial in this epistle -- if I can quit smoking, ANYONE can quit smoking, believe me.
Please, to extend your life, your lungs, and definitely your nasal passages, QUIT SMOKING!!!
