Gadsden Arts Center & Museum Executive Director Grace Robinson opened up the 12th Annual Evening with the Arts last Saturday evening at the Sawano Club in Quincy by saying words of thanks to everyone in the packed rooms.
"I thank each of you for being here and for your support. This evening combines new patrons as well as longtime supporters; our Gadsden Arts Center board of directors have been very busy planning, policy-making and encouraging others to donate. Our hard-working team on the Evening with the Arts Committee have worked tirelessly to plan this event, and have been fearless in trying new ways to decorate," she said about the beautifully adorned club with long bamboo sticks painted black and the light shows surrounding the rooms. "We are so grateful for our sponsors who have supported us year after year."
The evening kicked off with a silent auction containing nearly 80 donated items, many made by artists themselves. Catering sponsor Chef Billy Austin and Soiree Catering passed trays of hors d'euvres, some with caviar, others with goat cheese and other exotic delicacies. Music provided by the Brian Hall Ensemble featuring Longineu Parsons entertained guests for several hours and as the evening wore on, many couples took to the dance floor. A delicious repast was also provided by Soiree Catering as guests sipped wine and cocktails until late.
