Sgt. Troy Gilyard of the Quincy Police Department became the first law enforcement officer from Gadsden County to receive the Florida Police Chief Association’s District Three “Law Enforcement Officer of the Year” award. Quincy Police Chief Gerald McSwain presented Gilyard his plaque at the Association’s breakfast in Tallahassee. “Sgt. Gilyard was able to solve over 90 percent of the cases he investigated,” McSwain said when presenting the award.
