Dominique Wyndell Neal was found not guilty in last week’s second degree murder trial in Quincy.
Neal had been charged in the April 2012 death of Carlos Allen at the county parking lot behind the Ed Butler Building in Quincy.
According to a police report at the time, when authorities arrived Allen was found lying on the ground after being shot. Allen later died from those wounds.
Neal fled the area that morning and surrendered himself later that Sunday evening to Sheriff Morris Young.
A number of witnesses testified during the trial that they knew there was a fight and that Neal had been involved in the fracas, but none stated they saw him with a gun before, during or after Allen was shot.
The trial lasted three days and ended Friday afternoon with the not guilty verdict.
