Keep your aprons off and join the Havana Kiwanis Club as members prepare some scrumptious BBQ Thursday evening starting at 5:30 p.m. in Community Park (6th Avenue East).
The club is holding its annual fundraiser barbecue that helps support its several scholarships for Havana students. The dinner at $8.00 is a bargain - you get both pulled pork AND a quarter chicken, plus the usual sides of baked beans, cole slaw, bread, dessert and iced tea. Or if you want to have some later, you can get a takeaway box of four chicken quarters for $6.00 or an 8- to 10-pound Boston butt for $35.00.
This event helps pay for three scholarships that are open for Havana students at East Gadsden High School and Tallavana Christian School, so the money goes right back into the community. You can eat at the park or take the meal home to enjoy.
Havana Kiwanis doesn’t often toot its own horn, but this barbecue is special: Members caringly cook everything for hours the night before the event and the community enjoys the results! So c’mon out and enjoy a cooking-free dinner while helping Havana’s young folks get an education. You’ll be glad you did.
