The East Gadsden Jaguars whipped up on Lincoln and then Port St. Joe in their final regular season contests last week to run their record to an impressive 17-6.
Coach Diane Frost-Walker and her crew used double-digits scoring from four different players to defeat the Trojans 66-40. Dondrea Harris and Deambrenique Davis each scored 18 points to lead the way, with Davis hitting four 3-pointers along the way. Junior Sharieka Gaymon scored 16 points and Kamliah Wiggins finished with 12.
The Jaguar team handled Port St. Joe handily, winning 51-38. The team used a 16-6 first quarter jump to lead the Sharks 25-16 at haltime. Dondrea Harris led in scoring with 15 points, followed by Keyaria James’ 14 point performance. This win ended the regular season for the Jaguars and gave them their 17th win as they moved into district play at Florida High.
The Munroe Lady Cats dropped both final contests last week, losing to John Paul II and Brookwood School.
John Paul II won on Tuesday night by a 56-31 score. Maddey Pappadakis led the Lady Cats with 19 points. The guard also had seven rebounds. Karleebeth
Perkins led all rebounders with nine.
On Thursday night Brookwood had all the offense and the Lady Cats mustered little in a 51-19 win for the Georgia team. Kadejah Glynn led her team with eight points. Hannah Wilde and Maddey Pappadakis added three steals each.
Munroe ended their regular season 5-13.
The Lady Cats are the second seed in their four-team district. They will face Aucilla this week in round one with the winner facing the winner of FAMU vs. Tallavana on Thursday at FAMU.
Tallavana finished their regular season with a 44-31 loss to North Florida Christian. NFC turned a close ballgame into a win by outscoring the Lion 20-10 in the final quarter. Taniah Lockwood led her Lion team with 13 points.
The team plays in the 2A District 1 tournament at FAMU this week. As the #4 seed they will face the #1 seed, and defending state champs, FAMU Rattlers.
The winner of that game will take on the winner of Munroe-Aucilla Christian on Thursday at 7:00. FAMU is hosting the tournament.
