Once again this year Thomas Memorial Baptist Church of Quincy is sponsoring its Live-It Basketball Program. Sign-ups began January 4th and ended January 14th.
Games are scheduled to start Monday, January 27th.
One small change in this year’s program is the days of the week that games will be played. In the past games were played on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. This year, in an effort to leave Saturdays open for those who participate in the Live-It Program, games will be held on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
This is the only change to a program that has been successful for many years. Hopefully this change will allow the parents, grandparents and supporters of the program to have their Saturdays to spend more time with family or possibly catch up on a project or two around the house.
This year there will be 70 boys and girls participating in Live-It Basketball. This number is down a bit from last year and the year before. This will in no way affect the enthusiasm of the players coaches and league officials. There will still be plenty of excitement, fun and laughs during these games.
Each game will start with the National Anthem, prayer and a halftime devotion geared toward the young participants but guaranteed to touch the hearts of the grown-ups too. There will still be an End-of-the-Season-Banquet for the players, coaches, parents and league officials. Thomas Memorial's Youth Minister, Westley Bruner, will once again be in charge of the program.
As it is with this program or any program that is geared towards the youth in the area, your prayers for the players’ safety and the program’s success would be greatly appreciated. If Westley Bruner has told me once, he has told me a hundred times, “this program is not successful because of me; it is successful because of the grace and support of God.”
Come out and support this program and remember that anything that you purchase from the concession stand goes right back into the program. Good luck Live-It Basketball and have a great season on and off the court.
