James Kennard (Ken) Whittle, 90, of Tallahassee passed Saturday, January 18, 2014. He was born October 15, 1923 in Sycamore, Florida to the late Norton F. and Alline McDonald Whittle.
He was a graduate of the Greensboro High School and the University of Oregon. He served in the U. S. Army infantry in WW II. After WW II, he remained in Austria where he met Frances (Rusty) Neff. They were married there. He was a true citizen of the world. He retired after 32 years with IBM and had lived in Japan, Belgium and the U.S. For the last 25 years, he and his brother, W. O. Whittle owned and managed the Century 21/Lawrence Realty of Quincy. He was a member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Tallahassee and was a very active member of the Quincy Rotary Club.
Visitation will be Friday, January 24, 1:00 P.M. at the St. Paul’s UMC Parlor with memorial service to be 2:00 P.M. in the Sanctuary.
He is survived by; his wife, Frances N. (Rusty) Whittle of Tallahassee; son, Mark Scott Whittle of Boston, Mass; daughter, Pat Fehlman of Canton, Ohio; brothers, W. O. Whittle of Quincy and Herschel Whittle of Tallahassee; sister, Betty Nell Butler of Thomasville, GA; sister-in-law, Verna McClellan Whittle of Sycamore; many nieces and nephews.
He was also predeceased by his brothers, Otho, Quinn, Rev. N. Felton and Alva McDonald Whittle; and sister, Trudy Whittle Alday.
