A captain with the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) is now under investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
The investigation is in response to a complaint filed against Captain Jim Corder.
At the request of the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office, FDLE opened an investigation on Capt. Corder involving alleged official misconduct. FDLE received a complaint on September 26, 2013. “Because this is an active investigation, we can't provide additional information at this time,” FDLE spokesperson Gretl Plesinger stated.
In response to the investigation, GCSO Major Shawn Wood stated that it is the department’s policy to investigate all alligations.
"We felt for the integrity of our department that it was important to have someone else come in and look at it because this person is a captain," Wood said in a phone interview.
He further stated the department wanted everyone to understand it was going to look into cases, adding that it's also important to know that the officer has a right to make sure there aren’t any false allegations.
Corder has been placed on administrative leave with pay since September 27.
