Ralph Lee Perkins, 90, of Quincy went peacefully to be with the Lord, August 4, 2013, surrounded by his family.
Ralph was a life-long resident of Quincy and moved to Tallahassee in 1998. He graduated from Greensboro High School and attended FSU. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and loved the Lord with all his heart. During his life, he grew tobacco for King Edward Tobacco Co, Plant Manager for Swisher International and a farmer. He was a little league baseball coach, Veteran of the U.S. Air Force and trained as a Rear Tail Gunner in the B-24 during WW II. Ralph served as the Chairman of the Gadsden County Commission. His love and devotion to his late wife, Rachel of 64 years, children, family and friends were his greatest gifts. The sparkle in his eye and compassion will always be remembered.
Ralph is survived by his three children, Lee Rich (Wally) of Bradenton, FL; Peggy Auman (Ray) of Thomasville, GA; Ralph M. Perkins (Cheryl) of Tallahassee, FL; grandchildren, Sybill Johnson (Paul) of Sarasota; Sacha Gelfer of Eugene, OR: Landon Perkins of Tallahassee; Sarah Margaret and Emily Auman; Vicki Register, Vanessa Shivers, Greg Rich; great grandchildren, Carter and Connor Johnson, Ryan Register, Lindsey Mimbs, Amber and Timmy Tice, Dillon Rich; great-great grandsons, Bryson and Levi Mimbs and Alex Tice; sister, Ann Davis; and brothers, Pete and Billy Perkins of Quincy; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel G. Perkins; brothers, Jack and Malcolm Perkins; and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Perkins.
Ralph’s unwavering strength of faith, love of family and jovial spirit will be missed by many.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Big Bend Hospice Tallahassee, FL or Tidewell Hospice, Sarasota, FL.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 7th, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Centenary United Methodist Church in Quincy, Florida. Family received friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time in the Church Parlor. Interment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery.
