Here’s a real tough one. What’s Prince William’s last name? For that matter, what’s all the Royal family’s last name? While trying to find out about the Royal Baby I came upon this problem.
E! Online says “Yes, that's a bit of a trick question because, while he does have a surname he whips out on occasion (surely his schoolmasters and Royal Air Force commanders needed something to bark at him other than "Your Highness!"), he is predominantly known by his formal title.” Which is Prince William of Wales.
The site goes on to say, “When utilizing a surname like ordinary folks, William and his brother, Prince Harry, (and now Prince George!) take a cue from father Charles, Prince of Wales' royal house, and go by William Wales and Harry Wales. His name at birth was Prince William Arthur Philip Louis.”
Now, back to the baby.
The baby’s name is Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge. He’ll surely be called Prince George of Cambridge for short. And talk about being born with a silver spoon in your mouth. This kid and his parents have very little to worry about when it comes to the luxuries of life.
Which brings to mind another question. How much is the Royal Family worth?
There are discrepancies here but according to Answers.com, it’s an estimated $10 billion. The fact-site says, “Actually they are substantially wealthier than this, probably in the trillions. You have to realize that they descend from the Guelphs who were massively rich in the 14th century and that they are major shareholders in the Bank of England which makes tens of billions a year alone. Also, they own a huge amount of property in the UK as well as a lot of America.”
Yahoo.com and other sites that also delve in facts estimate the Royal Family is worth much less, but still plenty, around the $1 billion range. But with so many holdings and investments, they all say that amount fluctuates yearly.
Regardless, they have a lot of dough. One web site said the Royal Family didn’t have to worry about making new money, just spending the old.
Baby George’s birth was a bright spot for the British people. It generated a lot of excitement and interest, not just in Great Britain but all across the globe. He and his young, good-looking parents portray the Royal Family on a level that people can relate to ... with pride, I might add. They are good ambassadors for the British nation.
