The Big Bend Bears baseball team clipped Leesburg in a double-header at Chipola last Tuesday before getting beat by the Wiregrass Cardinals in Dothan Wednesday.
Adam DeWitt (Marianna) pitched a two-hit shutout in a 4-0 win over Leesburg in the fist game of Tuesday’s twin bill. DeWitt fanned six in collecting his third win of the summer.
Chase Nymin (Chipola) had a pair of hits and Taylor Wood (Blountstown) had a two-run triple to lead the Bear offense in the win.
Hunter Jordan (Blountstown) got credit for the second game win and Wood led a nine-hit attack with two hits including another triple and three more RBIs.
Andrew Shouse (Marianna) had a bases loaded triple in the 11-2 Bear win, Jacky Miles Jr. (Holmes County) had a pair of hits including a triple, Taylor Mauck (Blountstown) had a two-run triple, Myles Edwards (Munroe) had a double, and Brad Middleton (Marianna) scored three times.
The loss to Wiregrass was by a 9-7 score and came despite a ten-hit Big Bend attack.
David Black (Liberty County), Miles Jr., Wood, and Edwards each had two hits in the encounter that saw the Bears record go to 11-6 for the summer.
Big Bend played a double-header against the Tallahassee Gnats Tuesday night in Chattahoochee and hosted the Tallahassee Baseball Club in a double-header at Chipola Wednesday night. After a holiday break, Big Bend will host the Wiregrass Cardinals at Chipola on Tuesday July 9th.
