STREAKIN’ CATS:
The Munroe baseball team has a five-game win-streak going after a solid week’s work entering spring break. The Bobcats started the streak with a win over Tallavana, then key district wins over both John Paul II and FAMU. On Saturday, new coach Chris Warfel and his crew picked up two more wins in a spring break tournament in Cottondale. First, they had the most runs in a 15-10 win over Malone that most resembled a football score. In the second game, a walk issued by the Poplar Springs’ pitcher sent the winning run across for an 8-7 finish.
After taking several days off for break, the Cats will host Cottondale on March 25 in a double-header starting at 5:00 and then travel to Rickards on Thursday.

20 YEARS? REALLY?
It’s hard to believe that it was 20 years ago this month that Jim “Jimmy V” Valvano made his emotional speech as he accepted the inaugural Arthur Ashe Courage and Humanitarian Award at the first annual ESPY Awards. I was, and remain, a huge Jimmy V fan. For old time’s sake, listen to his speech again on Youtube. And remember, “don’t give up, don’t ever give up.”
QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
The more I am in athletics, the more this quote haunts me. "The difference between the old ballplayer and the new ballplayer is the jersey. The old ballplayer cared about the name on the front. The new ballplayer cares about the name on the back." – Steve Garvey
