When visitors enter Gadsden County they will be greeted by new signs.
The Gadsden Tourist Development Council (TDC) during Monday’s meeting approved the funding of 12 signs which will be placed on arterial roadways flowing into Gadsden County.
The council approved paying the $4,400 for the cost of the signs at that meeting. Gadsden County’s public works will place the signs.
The TDC has been working on the gateway signage project since 2009 with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) which provided a grant for the design and construction.
FDOT has funded the construction of gateways and wildflower plots along state right-of-way entrances to Gadsden County.
The county’s roadways to have signage, according to the TDC agenda, are:
• County Road 269A (Faceville Highway).
• North Oak Road
• Sunday Road
• Smithtown Road
• Mt. Pleasant Road
• Hutchinson Ferry Road
• Attapulgus Highway
• Salem Road
• Porter Mitchell Road
• Concord/Bainbridge Road
• Concord/Cairo Road
• Iron Bridge Road
The TDC’s approval came before the Gadsden County commission at its regular meeting Tuesday night for final approval.
The signs will depict the TDC’s branding with rolling hills, an oak tree and the slogan, “Gadsden/Unspoiled-Unexpected.”
