Caroline Shelfer Thompson was born in Bessemer, Alabama on August 30, 1908 and died in Tallahassee, Florida on March 11, 2013.
She truly enjoyed her 104 years – enjoyed receiving visits from friends and planning her own birthday parties while at Centre Pointe Rehab facility in Tallahassee. She loved to sing, had a trained voice and sang along with Rev. Bill Bess when he attended her birthday celebrations and played the piano-songs she requested. She could sing every word. What an amazing person!
She had her wedding picture on her bedroom wall and she could tell you the names of all 35 in the wedding party. Sally Cunningham would take candy to her on her weekly visits and she always requested Whitman’s because that is what her beloved Paul always brought her.
She was a long time member of the Presbyterian Church in Havana, and sang in the choir for many special occasions.
She was predeceased by her parents, Edgar and Annie Kennedy Shelfer; her brother, Tyler Kennedy Shelfer; and her husband, Paul.
She was interred at Shelfer Cemetery with Ray Burroughs officiating. Others attending shared special stories.
