I was glad to see Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s edict overturned by a judge in New York City. What gives Bloomberg or any government the right to disallow us from drinking a 16-oz Coca Cola if that’s what we want to do? Why make a broad-stroke ruling, penalizing everyone, when a few can’t control their eating habits? [Full Story »]

It’s not original with me to say that politics and showbiz are closely linked. How close the two are is brought home in Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann. Both began as overnight sensations and in both cases the act was new, novel and electrifying. In politics and showbiz, depending upon just how much substance there is, the act either endures or wears thin and the public tires of it. For both Palin and Bachmann the glow has definitely dimmed. 10 YEARS AGO
Chattahoochee High School would remain open until a new western Gadsden high school was built. The decision came after many months of haggling and debate by the school board over whether money could be saved by closing the under-utilized school, and what classes, if any, should be moved to Greensboro High School in the interim before a new school was built.
